The Fire Dept. had 4 runs and reminds everyone about the August 1 steak fry. The Police Dept. received 8 reports, fielded 147 phone calls, had 17 arrests/citations, issued 10 parking tickets and 9 warnings. There were 2 accidents. Mike Kaufman was presented a plaque honoring his 20 years of service to the Island. Our EMS had 17 runs and 10 clinic calls. The drone program is progressing as they await the delivery and installation schedule. The Water Dept. will be undertaking some distribution work upon receipt of an excavator. The Airport/Monaghan Rd. project is still plodding along. There have been some meetings and planning is still ongoing. Four Village roads have been paved and bermed, crack sealing is underway and striping completed. Pot holes are being filled. The Verizon installation at the transfer station is almost complete.
Several ordinances have been passed: No. 11-accepting a loan from the Ohio Water Development Authority for the water dept; No. 12-eliminates the annual sticker for commercial golf carts (but registration is still required); No. 13-Stop signs are going up on the west end of Maryann Ln. and the south end of Fairview; No. 19-Rate of pay for part-time paramedic; and No. 17-adopting the 2027 tax budget. Of particular interest are two ordinances renaming four roads in the Village. The similar sounding names has created problems for our safety services response teams. Ordinance No. 15 renames Beech Rd (Airline Subdivision on the North side) to N. Beech Rd. and Beach Rd on the west end will become S. Beach Rd. Ordinance No. 16-renames Cedar Ln (in the Sweetbriar Subdivision) to E. Cedar Ln. and Cedar Dr. (in the Sunset Subdivision) is now W. Cedar Dr. Current subdivision regulations prohibit duplicating street names to avoid this happening today. Resolution No. 2 accepts a grant from the ODOT in the amount of $19,300 for the airport. Adoption of the two ordinances doubling the lot sizes for R-1 and R-2 has been postponed pending a zoning hearing.
