Council Notes

It was a quick meeting. It was warm in the Hall as both furnaces were lost during the flood. High praise for all village employees and our Safety Services for their prompt and comprehensive response to the rain event. EMS reported 25 runs and 20 clinic calls. Friends and family came forward to help with the clean up in what can only be described as a difficult task despite many individuals dealing with flooding issue of their own. The first drone training was completed, unfortunately the company that was to provide the drones is now unable to fulfill its contract. Another company is being identified by ODOT. The Police Dept. received 5 reports, fielded 205 phone calls, had 20 arrests/citations, issued 5 warnings and there were 2 accidents. The Finance Committee discussed a proposed pay structure for the Water Dept. It is also considering the purchase of a new loader and roadside vegetation cutting attachment as current equipment has been unreliable and contracting the work has become increasingly expensive. Lands & Buildings has identified the EMS building roof as in need of replacement due to leaks, structural concerns and moisture issues. Another project under consideration is the repainting Kelley’s Hall and new bleachers. The committee would also like to see a mapping of waterlines in the two parks and keeping the water fountains in working order. The Village is working to get meeting recordings posted on the Village website, while some committees already have written minutes for Council packages. The Water Dept. will be replacing the ‘new’ billing system with another new one due to problems that could not be resolved and will be applying for an OWDA loan for the installation of remote meters.
