Council passed two zoning related ordinances. The first (2025-O-10) added a new section to the schedule of fees to penalize people who begin un-permitted construction.: “(C) The fees for any applications for permits required that are submitted late shall be doubled.” This would be in addition to the misdemeanor charges identified in §152.067 ENFORCEMENT – “Every person, corporation, or firm who violates, disobeys, neglects, or refuses to comply with any provision of this chapter or any permit, license, or exception granted hereunder, or any lawful order of the Zoning Inspector, Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, or Village Council issued in pursuance of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree..”
The other ordinance (2025-O-11) cleans up a section of the code that was much needed. This ordinance does not change the 25% rule for development on a lot, but does combine the principal residence, out buildings, docks and pavement in that calculation instead of the previous percentage limits for each category.
The Police Dept. received 11 reports, fielded 423 phone calls, accidents=1, arrests/citations=13 (55 year to date). The Fire Dept had 5 runs and during the meeting, a fire call was issued (turned out to be a false alarm, when the owner replaced the batteries in a smoke alarm and the signal went to the monitoring company who relayed the fire call to the Island).
The steak roast was a sell out with proceeds of over $22,000 going to Fredo Policy’s medical bills.
The water tower was struck by lightning during one of the storms and a new transducer has been ordered. The Water Dept. received $175,000 for the intake repair from Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) Emergency Funds. EMS had 25 runs and 29 clinic calls.
A big round of applause followed the reading of a Village Proclamation honoring Charles ( Big Chuck ) Schodowski ( See page 8 ).
