52nd Annual Homecoming Celebration

Another big Kelleys Island weekend is almost here and everyone is welcome! On August 7&8 the Kelleys Island Landowners Association is hosting the 52nd Annual Homecoming Celebration. This year the theme is “Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Kelleys Island School.” KILA is collaborating with the school to make this celebration festive and special, and Green Devil t-shirts will be available for purchase at the festival.

The weekend kicks off with the Annual Fish Fry, and it is fast approaching. Don’t forget to get your tickets before they are sold out, and all dinners are advance sale only. The price is $30, a bargain for a ½ pound perch dinner, at the Community Park Pavilion, serving at 6:00. Hot dogs for kids are free. For tickets email info@kila.rocks. Music by Frank & Dean, longtime favorites, is 5:30-8pm.

Saturday is a jam packed day of fun. Registration and drop off for the Pie Contest, a longtime tradition, is at 8:30, and a winner will be announced that morning.

Kids and families, get ready with your candy bags for the Homecoming Parade downtown at 11am. The Grand Marshalls are Superintendent Ben Ohlemacher and the Kelleys Island School students. This year you are in for a real treat with new parade additions – the Lake Erie Electric United Community performing bike group and the Huron High School cheerleaders. Enter your Kelleys Island School and All American floats and golf carts by contacting info@kila. rocks or Ed Nowak at Sugar Ridge Towing.

After the parade come to the Community Park for the Homecoming festival. Included this year are vendors that are offering original artwork and special products for sale and Back to the Wild with live wildlife demonstrations. Fat City Band will be providing lively musical entertainment, and games, food and refreshments will be available from noon-4pm.

Raffle tickets are now being sold by members of the KILA board, at the Homecoming festival, or by emailing info@kila. rocks, and raffle proceeds are to benefit Kelleys Island projects and organizations. The Grand Prize is $2500, and only 600 will be sold at $20 each.

KILA thanks our residents and special sponsor, Shores & Islands Ohio, for their support of this fun-filled weekend.
