KILA is gearing up for the 52nd Annual Homecoming festival, August 7&8. This is a weekend you will not want to miss! All are welcome – landowners, residents, and visitors.
The celebration kicks off on Friday at 5:00 pm at the Community Park Pavilion on Addison Road with snacks and refreshments, and beginning at 5:30 crowd favorite Frank and Dean play classic favorites. Our famous Fish Fry will be served from 6:00-8:00; tickets are $30 per dinner; kids eat a hot dog dinner free with paid adults. Each person receives a half pound of perch, and there are generous servings of sides. Tickets are sold in advance by KILA Board members, and the dinner sells out at 200 (and it always sells out!). Contact KILA at info@kila.rocks to let us know if you want tickets; Active KILA members get an advance sales option, and then tickets will become available for members of the general public.
On Saturday at 11:00 am come downtown for the Homecoming Parade. This year we are celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Estes School, and the Grand Marshall will be Superintendent Ben Ohlemacher and the Estes School Students. “Green Devil” t-shirts will be available for purchase, and a part of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to the school. KILA is also supporting the Estes School Anniversary Celebration on Sunday at noon at the school.
Stay at the Community Park after the parade for the festival and refreshments and music by Fat City Band. Back to the Wild will be bringing their display of awesome creatures, and you will have fun shopping the vendors for not to be duplicated
treasures.
KILA Board members are currently selling raffle tickets for $20 each; proceeds to be donated for island projects. Cash prizes!!! Winners will be announced Saturday at 5:00 pm at Homecoming, and you do not have to be present to win. To get in touch with a board member to get your tickets, email info@kila.rocks.

There is still time to renew your membership in KILA; $20 for renewals and $25 for new members, by mail to KILA, PO Box 22, Kelleys Island 43438. Besides raising money for island projects, organizing social events such as Homecoming, the Welcome Potluck, and the Family Hayride, organizing a fall Candidates Forum, and providing “Dumpster Days” for landowners’ spring cleaning, we stay current with the agendas of the Village Council and Park Board so we can advise landowners and represent landowners’ interests. Our Membership Chair, Candy Volz-Puma, emails newsletters regularly during the season to keep KILA members updated on goings-on.
