Bugle Call: Kelleys Island Post 9908 of the VFW

Happy 250th anniversary of when the Continental Congress began signing the Declaration of Independence, solidifying their commitment to independence from Great Britain on August 02, 1776.

The VFW is committed to lending a helping hand when needed. Last month after the historical rainfall on the 5th and 6th. The Kelleys Island EMS suffered significant loss of equipment needed to do their job. Your local VFW Post 9908 led the way with a thousand-dollar donation to help get the EMS back on their feet. We spread the word amongst the other VFW posts in our district. VFW Post 2529 in Sandusky, Ohio immediately came forward with a very generous and amazing donation of forty-thousand dollars. Thank you, Sandusky. This past week we’ve had other posts in the district pledge donations, that as of writing this article is about $73,000.00. This is an excellent example of how the VFW steps in to help their communities.

Our annual BBQ chicken dinner event this past June was very successful due to the support of our community here on Kelleys Island. We want to thank everyone involved with the prep and the serving of the meals and to the clean up afterwards. Thank You.
