History Museum Arts & Crafts Show

On August 1, the Kelleys Island History Museum held its 39th annual Arts & Crafts Show (the first one was in 1987). After a couple of years of moving the dates around the show returned to its original first Saturday in August date. There was a nice turnout, a few cancellations and a light rain in the afternoon, but that didn’t stop everyone from having a unique and fun day. Several artists returned and we welcomed some new ones as the porch and front yard of the museum and church filled up. And we were pleased to host the amazing Frankie Bailer, our resident magician, who delighted everyone with astounding card tricks. We almost had a food truck, but since the Safety Services steak roast was that evening, the Fire Dept. could not spare the workers to staff it. All in all, it was a great day, and what a surprise as many of the artists made a donation to the museum as their way of saying thanks. We look forward to next year.

Our thanks to these most talented people: Frankie Bailer (magician), Lisa Gillispie, Goede, Susan-Crochet Critters, Leslie Korenko (author), Addie Kromer (Addies Succulents & Cacti), Chuck Ohlemacher (arts & Crafts), Kate & Kara Overcasher (painted rocks), Alexi Panehal (author), and Kathi Ruthsatz (Krazy Kat Kreations).
