The Importance of Fundraising on Kelleys Island

Many Island organizations hold fundraisers during the season! As Island residents and visitors, we strive to support every valuable service that these organizations provide to us. Without the support of generous donors, the organizations would be less prepared to do the jobs that they are passionate about, and proud to be able to provide to Kelleys Island.

At The Kelleys Island Historical Association, fundraising is a primary way for the Association to support itself and its mission in the community. There have been some really fine fundraisers in the past! Many will remember the 1920’s themed party at the Steuber Family home, The Breakers. Another similar event was a murder mystery hosted by The Smith Family on Long Point. Both of these pre-covid events raised needed funds and provided a great source of on-island entertainment for the community! After that The Parsonage House Re-Sale Shop was opened by Janet Killam, Sonia Taylor and Jodie Smith. This additional source of income for the Association was a crucial pivot for the KIHA in the form of its fundraising focus. The Re-sale shop continues to fund the KIHA in an important way. However, with the smaller number of volunteers, the Museum Campus is only open 5 days a week, reducing the earning capabilities of both the Museum and Gift shop and the Re-Sale Shop.

Our new fundraisers have been The Ferry Boat Ride $500 gift card raffle ticket sale. This is still going on until all 500 tickets are sold, or the date of the drawing, August 3, 2026. Get your Raffle ticket for $10.00 at The Museum or Re-sale Shop, or from any KIHA Board Member.

Our newest fundraiser, Blackout & Bourbon, is taking place on Sunday September 6th from 2-4pm at The KIHA Museum! Play our TRIVIA GAME, grab a bite to eat, and a chance to win our gift basket! Enjoy our Bourbon Tasting Bar too! Donations of $25.00 will get you three rounds, with additional rounds at $10.00 each. A prize of a $100 VISA card will be awarded to each winner. We welcome you and anticipate a fun atmosphere provided by the local Island characters. We expect to see some local Trivia champions there to dominate the TRIVIA portion of the afternoon! Who will challenge them?!

Sunday, September 6 is not to be missed! Food, 50/50, Gift Baskets Raffle and Bourbon tasting! Gather your friends and family and come out to support the Kelleys Island Historical Association! Thank you in advance for your support and to our sponsors in the fundraising event!
